Despite variable weather and the virus, Willow Cottage has been booked for most of the summer with only a small number of Covid-related cancellations. At the time of writing I believe we still have a couple of openings in November so please take the oppportunity to get in touch. What better way to escape the harshness of 2020 than a cosy cottage on the edge of a small, picturesque village such as Wark on Tyne.

Willow Cottage Garden in Full Bloom
Summer is here already – and our gardens are doing great Here are just a couple of quick photos of the front:

Ok, maybe a third…

November here in beautiful Wark on Tyne
We’ve had our share of rain but even in November, it is especially nice to be at Willow Cottage, away from the crowds – enjoying the peaceful countryside.

Autumn gives and Autumn takes away
We have just had some great days here in Wark – Maureen and I were out walking in the village last week and I took this shot of the Tyne, just walking distance from Willow Cottage..

A Great Summer at Willow Cottage
It looks like everyone has had a great time at Willow Cottage this year, we have had some great feedback from the booking company and our guests – that means more work over the winter to make it even better for next year. We’ve already started to improve the heating and dehumidifier controls to provide the very best comfort and we are now achieving GREAT reliability there. The weather on the other hand is down to luck.
“Jackie” said “I would definitely recommend it to anyone and as a family wedding can’t wait to return”
“Veronica” said “A very pretty cottage in a sleepy village… we thoroughly enjoyed our stay”
“David” said “A wonderful week in a fantastic home away from home…. Beautiful area and one which we will come back to!”
Thanks for the really great comments folks, look forward to having you stay with us again.
What They Say
These are the very first comments we at Willow Cottage in Wark on Tyne have received, un-edited and genuine. We are particularly excited given the less than ideal weather for much of April and early May:
AH of Worcestershire: What a beautiful cottage. Hats off to the internal decor… A lovely spot to explore the beautiful area– all lovely, we will be back.
RD from Exeter: Lovely Willow Cottage. What can we say? Everything you could want and more. Thank you so much. Had a fab time.
Green Award for Sustainability
Willow Cottage has just received the Northumbrian Cottages Green Award for Sustainability. Rather than bore you with the details, we’re proud of this so here are a couple of pics to prove we’re not making this up as we go along…
and here’s another:
There are various measure of how householders can help the environment and the use of LED lighting often comes high on the list. At Willow Cottage we use LED lighting almost exclusively. We’ve also fitted air source heat pump heating and hot water supply. We have a multi-fuel heater but generally this is used only to supplement the central heating on the odd occasion that it is really cold outside.
Churches and More
A couple of photos we took of the old church, walking distance just outside of Wark. A great area for some quiet time.
